Meet our Boy Role Model : Alfred Akibo-Betts FCCA FCA

It’s not everyday that you get to meet inspirational men who do not only ace at their careers but bring other people along.

Today’s spotlight in on Alfred Akibo- Betts, a seasoned professional, father and husband with a great personality and a knack for making people laugh and be comfortable with their growth. 

We believe that our young people in Sierra Leone can emulate from his dedication and flare for learning and career development as a Revenue and Public Financial Management Expert with over sixteen (16) years of experience, fourteen (14) of which in senior management positions within a Revenue Authority. 

He is a Fellow of both the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Sierra Leone. 

Alfred holds a Master’s Degree in Taxation from the University of Pretoria, a Certificate in Comparative Tax Policy and Administration from Harvard University and Public Financial Management Certificate from the IMF.  

He worked for sixteen (16) years at Sierra Leone’s National Revenue Authority in various departments covering Tax and Non-Tax Revenue. 

Mr. Akibo- Betts was involved and took the lead in implementing multiple significant projects in tax administration, notably being in charge of the implementation of Goods and Services Tax. 

Throughout his career, he has interacted and worked regularly with multiple stakeholders including senior civil servants; ministers; representatives from the IMF, the African Union, World Bank, and DfID; academia and civil society on collaborating and implementing transformational projects.

His latest project is in his role as Chief Executive Officer of The Betts Firm, a tax, accounting, business and regulatory advisory firm that he formed, that serves clients in the manufacturing, energy, logistics, services, and financial services sectors. 

He is also the Co-Founder of Freetown Business School, the leading business school in Sierra Leone, providing quality training services to leading companies in the country. 

Alfred is keen on mentorship and mentors young people through a mentorship platform called Mentor X.

He is excited about the Sierra Leonean Youth and awakening their hidden potentials.
